Nina Maria Kleivan and his mini-dictators

haciendo-foco-dictadores.jpg

Of anything doubts do not stay: this is an extremely polemic series of photos. His person in charge is the artist Danish - Norwegian Nina Maria Kleivan who under the title of “Potency“ has assembled these showy images. There talks each other of his own baby, Faustina Kleiva, dressed in famous dictators as Adolf Hitler, Benitto Mussolinni or Joseph Stalin.

His target is to show like all we are born with the potentiality to turn into individuals as harmful as these historical personages. For that it confirms the innocence of a child with the atrocity of a dictator. The artist tries to show like all we are born with the same opportunities to realize negative and incomprehensible actions.

The polemic came untied in all those countries where the series of photos was exhibited. Thanks to Internet also it expanded on a global scale. Anyway, her the first controversy took place at a more intimate level: the father of the girl went mad really when it found a bracelet with a swastika on his office. His mother confesses that for her also it was a painful experience.

It knows the small dictators next.

Elliott Erwitt: you photograph with humor

erwitt-ca.jpg

Elliott Erwitt (1928) is French dedicated to the documentary and advertizing photo. It is recognized internationally by his interesting black and white apprehensions. His images are spontaneous and they have certain touch of humor that, without doubts, they have turned into some of my darlings.

Between his motives more appellants find the political events and the dogs (yes, the dogs). Also his nudes photos have pronounced humorous character, where once again the situations of irony and of absurdity are revealed.

From the decade of 1970 Erwitt has dedicated big part of his energies towards the movies. Almost in the shape of order I recommend to you to visit his page. It is a very finished place where you will be able to find the biography of this photographer, information about his exhibitions, different articles and of course, a big part of his nice photos.

Thomas Birke takes us towards the lights of Tokyo

1482961265367137.jpg

In HaciendoFoco we go on from the adorable intimacy of the Siberian houses to the undeniable modernity of the buildings of Tokyo. Thomas Birke feels a big attraction for the metropolitan areas and especially for this city, one of most populated of the world. The metropolitan area of Tokyo possesses 34,5 million inhabitants. Since it is of supposing it is characterized by an extremely high population density: 14 thousand persons for square kilometer.

For Birke Tokyo is the city that more is alike the future of the urban life. The Japanese capital is provided with more than one thousand of buildings, many of which overcome 100 meters high. From the roofs of the city there is glimpsed a sea of buildings, offices and factories. The Birke target is to show the presence of the individuals who inhabit them. Nevertheless, it does not do it straight but across the lights of his windows or of his vehicles.

To achieve these photos Thomas Birke raised the stairs against fires of innumerable buildings. It was so it obtained a series of panoramic apprehensions, full of light and movement.

Straight from Russia: photos of Siberian houses

76555556.jpg

Let's accept the exercise of imagining the houses that are named in a big quantity of infantile stories. If we do it probably let's find big similarities with many of the current Siberian houses. These constructions combine the enormous warmth of the wood with the admirable complexity of his completions.

In this opportunity there presented a project of the Vladstudio.Conoceremos to them a series of fronts of Siberian houses, more specially than the city of Irkutsk (placed in the center of Siberia of this one). Irkutsk is provided with a big wooden houses quantity. Many of them have been deteriorating with the time (process that turns out to be reflected in the images). Nevertheless, and before they disappear completely, a spectacular photographic record of many has been realized they.

To highlight the textures the skill HDR has been used. In knowing a little more on this the interested parties can visit this page where the realized process appears, always setting off from the original image. Also, on the page of the Vladstudio they will be able to unload many of these photos.

The advertizing photo of Tom Hussey

964161255975088.jpg

Constantly the photo puts itself at the disposal of the publicity. It is then when really creative results are achieved and of quality. Many people can renounce this type of photo and incline for works more removed from the market. Anyway sometimes he is worth while sharing some of his results. In this case I refer to a campaign of titled Novartis “Reflections“.

Novartis is a multinational company that devotes itself to the pharmaceutical industry and to the biotechnology. The following series of photos has been taken by artist Tom Hussey. In her there appear different individuals (most of them of an advanced age) looking in a mirror. In him they turn out to be reflected … but in his epochs of youth.

Without doubts, a well armed work. Here they can see another project of this North American photographer. His official place also is at disposal for all kinds of onlookers. Portraits, children and animals, are some of the categories of his briefcase. Although many of his images show pronounced style publiciatario there stop no being photos of high quality.

The Beatles across the camera of Harry Benson

The Beatles. Without doubts, one of the best bands of all the times (or definitely the best?). Anyway, in this opportunity we will not refer to them but whom it registered to this band in his best epochs: Harry James Benson.

Benson is a Scotch photographer whose images have appeared in publications like Life, Vanity Fair, People and The New Yorker. It was assigned to travel with the Beatles in his first American tour, during 1964. Probably his most recognized photo is that in that the four of Liverpool are seen in a pillows fight.

Benson also has photographed other celebrities like Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor, Mick Jagger, Dolly Parton, and political figures of fame like Dwight D. Eisenhower, Robert F. Kennedy or Martin Luther King Jr. Anyway, we choose to center on the Beatles and next we present some of his images to you. The rest of them you can know them visiting the briefcase of this photographer.

Impactantes you photograph macro

I always felt a big attraction for the photo macro. After everything: who is not fascinated on having seen with clarity an impressive series of details that otherwise would get lost? The glasses macro are those especially designed to focus at a very small distance. That's why flowers, insects and other smallness are perfect for fotografíar from close.

WebDesignLedger presented 40 surprising examples of photos macro. It could not allow to spend this series and here I present some of them. To see the finished selection you can clickear here.

For the principal image I chose the image that more paid my attention: it is of a snow flake. These flakes only appear when the temperature is approximately-5 º C. This picture of Ben Anderman has been taken by natural light. The values are of a speed second and an opening of diaphragm of 9.5.

Photos of the Carnival 2010

While there keep on coming to us the different comments and impressions that the Carnival of Rio left (an outstanding figure who attracted without problems more than 730.000 foreigners) begins appearing what we more are interested in: the photographic record.

Let's clarify that the Carnival of Rio is not the only protagonist (although yes an uncontroversial leader). About the whole world every community celebrates to his way. Europe, the Caribbean Sea and South America go out to the streets offering a big deployment of music and color.

Thanks to Gastón's contribution (and to the selection of Boston) I share with you some photos of this carnival period. They are to any color and in excellent quality. If you have got lost of going out to the streets to be celebrated at least you will be able to know how one lived through this celebration about the world.

Kyoichi Sawada: photos of the war of Vietnam

Kyoichi Sawada

Kyōichi Sawada was a Japanese photographer. He was born in 1936 and died 34 years later, murdered in Cambodia. He is the person in charge of registering one of the most famous photos that illustrate the terror of the war of Vietnam. This photo, taken in 1965, shows to a mother and to his children crossing a river to escape of a North American bombing. Thanks to this photo Kyōichi Sawada it received on the following year the Award Pulitzer of Photo.

Also it is known by a photo of the year 1966. In her there is seen a group of soldiers of the United States dragging with his armoured vehicle a dead combatant (this one knows the photo next). This photo, as the previous one, was a winner of World Press Photo.

Without doubts, Kyōichi Sawada is an inevitable one inside the documentary photo of the XXth century. It offers us one of the best examples of the documentary photo and especially, of the tragedy of the war.

The tribal faces of Eric Lafforgue

Eric Lafforgue

The work of Eric Lafforgue is one of the big marvels that we can discover thanks to the Web. This French photographer works of form freelance and also he devotes himself to produce multimedia contents. Since they will be able to appreciate in his web site Lafforgue he feels a big attraction for the tribal regions. Ethiopia, Malaysia, Kenya, Japan, Tanzania … are only some of the places at which it has been employed.

After having published in his flickr his photos of Papua New Guinea a French publisher was interesting publishing a book with his works. Since then, Eyedea, an important agency of photo, hired it. Lafforgue has sold photos for publications like the Times, National Geographic, The Economist, UNESCO Magazine, etc.

I can make sure them that the place of Eric Lafforgue is a joyita inside the network. It is infested with vivid portraits of distant (and for many exotic) parts of the world. Next, some of my darlings.

Figures formed by thousands of North American soldiers (1915-1920)

Mass and Thomas

An interesting discovery: photos of figures achieved by means of formations of North American military men. These images were working at the time of supporting the participation of the United States in the First World war and avoiding this way any tendency aislasionista. It is in the times of war where these patriotic images were used like nationalistic propaganda.

This is a collection of photos of Arthur S. Mass and John D. Thomas. Both were traveling from a military camp to other, forming thousands of soldiers of way of creating gigantic native symbols. The represented images include the Bell of the Freedom, the Statue of the Freedom, the emblem of the Infantry of Marina and a portrait of the Uncle Sam and of the President Wilson. The last one, for example, formed by means of 21.000 officials and soldiers.

Next I share a pair of these images. They are in excellent definition so they can be appreciated in its entirety. The rest of the photos can see them here.

The photo of war of Donald McCullin

Donald McCullin

Probably the titled photo “BiAfrican 1969” is the most famous of this photographer: Donald McCullin. Simply they have that googlearla so that it appears on the screen of his computer. Now the warning goes: it is terribly heartbreaking.

Donald McCullin, is a British photographer recognized principally by his photo of war. His career of photojournalism, which began in 1959, has specialized in the record of the secondary layers of the society. His photos have represented the unemployed men, the oppressed ones and the poor.

His first work, published in 1958, was painting the portrait to a band of its own street, in the north of London. During the 60s and 70s McCullin worked for Sunday Times, covering events of international importance, like the war of Vietnam. McCullin covered different ecological disasters and regions desolated by the war. If his work had not been so removedor probably the British government would not have prohibited him in 1982 to cover the war of the Malvinas.

Incredible figures formed by birds

principalpararjos.jpg

It seems that now the game would not consist in finding form forms to the clouds but to the flocks (?). But the following thing be fixed: DailyMail published today a series of photos where groups of starlings are seen forming figures in full flight. In case of the top image we see a giant bird. This picture was taken in Taunton, Somerset (England). The imposing colors of the sky during the evening stop completing the picture.

Julie Blackmon: portraits of a big family

Julie BLackmon

Julie Blackmon is a North American, born photographer in Springfield (Missouri), in 1966. It uses varied digital technique to intensify the color and to combine different elements: his target is to create original family scenes. The fact of being the biggest of nine brothers and the mother of three children allows him to "use" its own relatives to create these images.

One of his most recognized works is the titled series “Domestic Vacation“. In her a house is represented in disorder, it fills of children and excited adults. As affirms the photographer, these photos arise from a combination of personal experience with fiction elements. The images try to reflect the life of those children who live in a large family, at the same time that they explore different aspects of the everyday life. They can visit this creative series of photos here.

The photos of Julie Blackmon are part of permanent collections in museums of Kansas City, Houston and Seattle. In this case alumnus “Mind Games“ presented other one of his interesting collections (this black and white time). Here the big protagonists are the children and the game. Advisable.

Spencer Tunick: massive nudes in the big cities

To simple sight it would be difficult to believe that “this“ that floods this photo is an enormous mass of naked bodies. But yes, it it is. It is probable that you have already heard speaking about the work of Spencer Tunick, an American photographer recognized by his photos of big masses of naked persons.

These persons agree to pose artistically in the big cities. They do it free and only receive in return a photo signed in gratitude to his collaboration. These images (some impactantes for some) explicítan the existing tensions between the public thing and the private thing, between the individual thing and the collective thing.

The Tunick project began in 1992, photographing naked persons in New York. Later it extended his work towards other states of the country and later it realized an international tour, in which he took pictures in cities like Bruges, London, Melbourne, Montreal, Caracas, Santiago, San Pablo and Vienna. In May, 2007 it assembled (nothing more not neither more nor less!) than to a public of approximately 20.000 persons. This happened in the Square of the Constitution, in Mexico City. An impressive intervention that you can see next.

NatGeo: color photographs green

Since one might suppose the section of photos of the page of National Geographic it is really spectacular. It is provided with a big variety of galleries that stop of mouth opened for anyone who observes them. It is the perfect combination between the art of the photo and the incredible marvels of the nature.

In this case I chose to present one of the galleries of this page. Under the name of “Life in color” assembles a series of images that represent a principal color: red, orange, blue, purple, yellow and green. The latter color is the one that I chose in this opportunity.

Since we already know the green it is one of the most common colors in the nature. We can find it in the sheets, in the grass, in the snakes and even in the color of certain lights. The green represents the vitality, the nature and the environmentalism. In the principal image we see one of the images of this selection. There are two green frogs in a sheet in the delta of the river Atchafalaya, in Louisiana, the United States. Know the rest of the images!

Gaëna Des Bois: photo, poetry and music

gaena give bois

Today I present to them a feminine and slightly fantastic perspective of the photo. Straight from Quebec Gaëna Des Bois comes. In his blog they will be able to find almost every day a photo accompanied by a poem and some song perfectly elected (in this moment I listen to one of his invitations: Edin Karamazov).

The Gaena photos take like the nature as basic. The final score is of a fantastic, imaginary world (personally most of his images give me a sensation of certain mystery and darkness). The corporal thing also plays an important role in his photos: the feminine body in movement is a motive appellant.

To know in depth the work of Gaena Des Bois you can visit his blog or his web site. They will be able to verify that it is a space where there interact in a harmonious way the images, the words and the music.

The click in the just moment

08062202_bloguncoveringorg_fotografia.jpg

It might discuss for hours what is what it distinguishes to the good photos of the others. Although to choose a good angle from which shooting is a fundamental question also it is to realize the apprehension in the just moment. Often this diminishes to being in the place adapted with a camera in hand (why most of the times that we need our camera do not we have it with us?). Other times it is a question of realizing the necessary preparation to create the perfect image.

In this opportunity I present to you a pair of photos that take as a common factor having been taken in the just moment. A second earlier or a second later it had not been the same.

Also, and as regards all this, we must know that a good photographer must be ready to get wet, to be daubed, to hang by the trees and to do everything what is necessary to receive the scene from the best perspective. Fortunately, there always exists someone who registers this type of things so that the others we could see them. That's why, do enter here and knowing to what a photographer has to surrender to achieve a good image.

Bunchadogs&Susan: a grandmother photographer

4283513998_776af81ffc.jpg

To cover Flickr every time turns out to be more addictive to me. After spending long time to me going on from one link to another link, I ended on the page of Bunchadogs&Susan. In more than one occasion in HaciendoFoco we present precocious talents to you in the world of the photo. In this opportunity we incline towards another end. Susan, the creator of this place, is a grandmother who brings them to herself.

Today we go on from the photographers who have marked school to those who take the picture as a hobby (and they do it with turned out more than satisfactory). From California, the United States, they come to us an immensity of Susan's photos (more than thousand!) that if you accept, will serve to you for entrentenerte during a good moment.

With a quite particular style (and that in my case managed to be done of a place between so many images of the Web) nourishes an extremely interesting place. Next, some of my favorite images. In Bunchadogs&Susan they can know the finished collection.

Dolls portraits for Isabelle Ribeiro

0001-lucia_gaia-thumb.jpg

We can find a big dolls variety in any toyshop and in the bedroom of all the girls. Also we can do it (and this time from a very different vision) in the work of Isabelle Ribeiro. The dolls are the protagonists of a valuable series of photos taken this artist. Therefore, let's advance and let's know from a point different from these classic toys.

Ribeiro wine is a Brazilian photographer who from the year 2001 lives in the United States (more specially in the state of Florida). Across a constant search of new skills of lighting and of composition it achieves really showy results and impactantes. The portrait of articulated dolls of resin is a big area inside his work like photographer.

The big expressiveness of these dolls (that without doubts is great more that so standardized barbies) is received to the maximum. If they want to verify it for themselves know a pair of images next. The blog of this artist is also a way of coming closer her. You can gain access to him clicking here.

Aleksandr Ródchenko: the photographic constructivism

Rodchenko

Aleksandr Ródchenko is an outstanding figure that we could not allow presenting in HaciendoFoco. One of the artists was more polífacéticos of Russia during the 20s and of 30: he was a sculptor, painter, graphic designer and Russian photographer.

He was a pioneer in the field of the photo. It used the camera in any position, creating disconcerting sensations. Generally his photos were usually zenithal or flat planes nadir. This was provoking an impact in the spectator, causing him certain difficulties to recognize the photographed object, something that turned out to be facilitated by his camerawoman Leica, which one had a very manageable format.

Ródchenko liberated to the photo of many of his conventions, fact that turned it into one of the most important pioneers of the constructive photographic one. Since it is natural it spent for different stages, from the abstract photo to the record of sports activities, sceneries or choreographies. Next I present to you a small sample of the work of this artist.

AntoineB at first sight

68a41a023c0826e8307f5200dbc80965_large.jpg

Of course with an explicit intention of showing across the photo a fleeting, untidy and partial portion of the reality, AntoineB focuses to capture moments and visions, both integrated to a photo simultaneously real and modified.

With the digital edition as tool and with a talent easy to appreciate at the time of creating ambience and combining colors, AntoineB captures in his photo part of his cinematographic credit (he is a movies student in Lyons, France). His photos open way towards an entire immersion in them, with a light directed to show the opaqueness and the contrasts of the things, which they emphasize for on the content.

Handsomeness of lid of book (in fact, almost similar to illustrations in some cases), his work deserves to be visited. In AtFirstSight (At first sight) we can know closely his work.
